Science

Our aim is to inspire pupils to think like scientists by developing curiosity, critical thinking and a broad understanding of the natural world. Pupils build confidence by asking questions, making observations, carrying out investigations, recording and analysing data, and presenting findings. Science at Blueberry Park highlights the role of science in everyday life and societal progress, encouraging pupils to make informed, responsible decisions.

Key Stage 1 Science
In Key Stage 1, science focuses on hands-on exploration that develops curiosity, observation and simple enquiry skills. Pupils investigate the world around them through practical experiences, learning to ask questions, use basic scientific vocabulary and recognise changes and patterns in everyday contexts.

Key Stage 2 Science
In Key Stage 2, pupils deepen their scientific understanding and enquiry skills by planning investigations, collecting and analysing data, and drawing conclusions based on evidence. They develop critical thinking and an understanding of how science explains the world and supports informed decision-making.

Progress in Science is assessed through evaluation of children's work and their contributions to class discussions. An end of unit assessment will also be done from Y1 onwards.
