Year 1KW
Attendance Matters! Our whole school target is 97% so please be in everyday.
Welcome to Y1KW
Miss Wright, Miss Johnson,
Miss Furnival
Welcome back to Y1KW, we hope you had a lovely Christmas break and are excited to get back into school.
We are so proud of all the progress Y1 has made and can't wait to leap into this term. We will be learning about Judaism, The United Kingdom and reading and writing about Hermelin. In Maths, we are looking at time, exploring calculation and working on numbers to 50. In Art, we will be learning about the artist Romero Britto who is famous for his joyful and colourful artwork.
To avoid any lost learning, it is important to ensure we have good attendance. Each day new learning takes place which means everyday is vital in ensuring children are achieving their full academic potential. If you need any advice or support with this, please contact school.
Please see below for some key information.
Reading
We encourage the children to read as much as they can independently, with an adult and as a class. Please listen to your child read every day, we request that you sign and date the yellow reading record every time you read at home with your child. You can also let us know if they found anything particularly difficult and could use a little more practise as well as praising how well your child has read. Books and folders need to be returned to school every day, we change books on a Friday. Your child will receive additional books or ditty sheets linked to their Read Write Inc phonics group.
