Welcome to Year 5!
We are looking forward to sharing all the fun things that we get up to this year! We have had a fantastic start to the Spring term!. We are currently working through fractions in Maths. Within Science, we have been looking at Space and the Moon. Our Geography topic this term focuses on volcanoes and, in Art, we are designing our very own dragon's eyes!
School starts at 8:45 (SODA), registration 9:00 am, and school finishes at 3:15pm. In order to keep everyone safe, please stand back from the doors at drop off and pick-up times.
Reading
We encourage children to read as much as they can independently, with an adult and as a class. All children have a home/school reading book and a reading for pleasure book. Reading books go home every night and are to be returned every morning to school. Please write a comment in the reading record praising how well your child has read.
PE
PE is on a Monday and Thursday (LSSP P.E sports coach). Children should come to school wearing their PE kits (blue shorts, white T-shirts, navy school jogging bottoms and hoodie). Swimming will start in Spring 2 and the kit which is needed (swimming costume/shorts, a swimming hat and a towel).
Homework
Homework is given out on a Friday and is to be returned by the following Friday. Children are tested on the times tables and spellings sent out, so please make sure they are being practised daily. Children also have individual Century accounts, which is an AI-generated learning tool.
