Early Years Foundation Stage
Our Early Years Foundation Stage provides a nurturing, stimulating start to school life, where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. We believe that the early years lay the foundations for future success, and our curriculum is designed to support every child to grow with confidence, curiosity, and independence.
Our EYFS Vision
We aim to create an environment where children learn through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences. Every child is encouraged to develop at their own pace, supported by caring adults who understand their individual needs and interests.
What Learning Looks Like
Children in our Nursery and Reception classes follow the EYFS Framework, which focuses on seven key areas of learning:
-
Communication and Language — building vocabulary, listening skills, and confidence in speaking.
-
Physical Development — strengthening fine and gross motor skills through active play.
-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development — developing relationships, resilience, and self‑awareness.
-
Literacy — early reading, phonics, and writing skills.
-
Mathematics — exploring numbers, patterns, shapes, and problem‑solving.
-
Understanding the World — discovering nature, communities, and the wider world.
-
Expressive Arts and Design — creativity through art, music, role play, and imaginative activities.
Our curriculum blends structured teaching with child‑initiated learning, ensuring children experience both guidance and freedom to explore.
Our Learning Environment
Our EYFS classrooms and outdoor areas are carefully designed to inspire curiosity and independence. Children have access to:
-
inviting reading corners
-
creative and construction zones
-
role‑play areas
-
sensory and investigation stations
-
a rich outdoor learning space for physical play, nature exploration, and hands‑on discovery
We believe that high‑quality environments spark high‑quality learning.
Working in Partnership with Families
We value strong relationships with parents and carers. Through regular communication, open events, and shared learning opportunities, we work together to support each child’s development. Families are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s learning journey.
Supporting Every Child
Our experienced EYFS team ensures that all children, including those with additional needs, receive the support they need to thrive. We observe, assess, and plan carefully to provide personalised learning experiences that help every child make strong progress.
