Year 2TM

Attendance Matters! Our whole school target is 97% so please be in everyday.

Welcome to 2TM

Miss Maguire & Mrs Crook

We have had a fantastic start to the year. It has been wonderful to see so many happy, smiley faces walking through the door each day. We hope you have had a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year, rested and ready for another term full of fun and learning. This term we will be reading and writing about the wonderful story 'The Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis. In maths we will be looking at telling time, fractions and addition and subtraction. We have some exciting opportunities coming up, stay tuned to find out!

We are focusing on developing independence and a sense of responsibility; we encourage our children to look after their own belongings. Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled with your child’s name, to avoid items being lost. As the weather is starting to become colder, please ensure your child brings a coat to school every day and in the colder weather, a hat, scarf and gloves, clearly labelled please.

Attendance and Punctuality

Good school attendance and punctuality are crucial for a child to succeed. Missing school days can have an impact on learning; for example- one day off school is five missed lessons or three days is fifteen lessons.

School Timings

School starts at 8.45am (Calm Start). Registration is at 9.00am. School finishes at 3.15pm. In order to keep everyone safe, please stand back from the doors at drop off and pick-up times.

Reading

We encourage children to read as much as they can independently, with an adult and as a class. All children should have a home/school reading book to their phonetic ability and a storybook they have read that week in their phonics lessons. Reading books will go home every night and are to be returned every morning to school. Please write a comment in the reading record praising how well your child has read. Books will be changed on a Friday by their phonics teacher. If your child does not bring in a book bag or reading folder, their book will not be changed.

PE

PE is on a Monday (inside) and Wednesday (outside). Children should come to school in the correct PE kits on these days.

Homework

Homework will be uploaded to Class Dojo every Friday and is to be returned by the following Friday. Homework will include reading, spellings, maths and literacy. Children will be tested on the spellings sent out, so please make sure they are being practised daily.
