Welcome back to 2RS! We hope you have had a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year, rested and ready for another term full of fun and learning. This term we will be reading and writing about the wonderful story 'The Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis. In maths we will be looking at telling time, fractions and addition and subtraction. We have some exciting opportunities coming up, stay tuned to find out!
School starts at 8:45am which allows us 15 minutes of a calm start. This includes activites such as handwriting and mental maths practice. Registration will be at 9:00am, so please make sure your child is in at that time. School finishes at 3:15pm. In order to keep everyone safe, please stand back from the doors at drop off and pick-up times.
We are focusing on developing independence and a sense of responsibility; we encourage our children to look after their own belongings. Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled with your child's name, to avoid items being lost. As the weather is starting to heat up, please ensure your child has a hat, clearly labelled and a water bottle each day.
Reading
We encourage children to read as much as they can independently, with an adult and as a class. All children should have their phonics group reading book which they have been reading in class and a reading book of their phonics level. Please write a comment in the reading record praising how your child has read. Books will be changed on a Friday.
PE
PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days.
Homework
Spellings will be put on Dojo every Friday. Please practise these at home with your child throughout the week. The children will be tested on them the following Friday. Any additional homework will be put on Dojo on Fridays. Please help your child to complete these.
