Eco-Council
At Blueberry Park, we always want to do our best to look after our planet. Our Eco Council is a group of enthusiastic pupils from Reception to Year 6 who work together to make our school a greener, cleaner and more environmentally friendly place. Every September, children have the chance to apply for a place on the council, sharing their ideas and passion for protecting the planet. Those children who are chosen to become Eco Councillors wear their badges with pride around school.
The Eco Council attend meetings and run projects throughout the school year and this year, their focus is to work hard on achieving the prestigious Green Flag Award as part of the Eco-Schools campaign. This award recognises schools that show a real commitment to caring for the environment and earning it involves completing a range of important tasks such as carrying out environmental reviews, creating action plans to share with our headteacher and our school governors, and of course, leading eco-friendly projects across the school.
What is Eco-Schools?
Eco-Schools is a global programme engaging 19.5 million children across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet.
Eco-Schools has been empowering children for many years to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the simple Seven-Step framework in order to achieve the international Eco-Schools Green Flag award.
