Attendance Matters!
Our whole school target is 97% so please be in every day!
Welcome to Y4SW
Miss Williams, Miss O'Shaughnessy and Miss Scott
Year 4 are continuing to work hard as the Summer Term begins, with a focus on the presentation of our work as we bring Year 4 to an end.
Our Maths focus moves from decimals to measurement and converting between units (for example, between metres and centimetres). Our Daily Fluency practise is having positive effect and our times table knowledge is really improving in preparation for the Multiplication Check in June.
In English we have been reading 'The Journey' by Francesca Sanna and will be writing a narrative about refugees.
In P.E. we are practising our cricket skills and are developing our fitness through a series of challenges to build agilty, balance, strength and speed.
Our Science focus is Sound, with a Ecuadorian Rainforest unit for Geography. Spanish lessons are review of the Year 3 sports names and then speaking about them in sentences.
Every minute out of school is lost learning time!
Thank you for your help!
School starts at 8:45 (calm start and SODA activities that recap over prior learning) with registration at 9:00am. We begin our day immediately with our Daily Fluency times tables practise, so being in class on time is essential.
The school day finishes at 3:15pm. In order to keep everyone safe, please stand back from the doors at drop off and pick up times.
Reading
We encourage children to read as much as they can independently both in class and at home. Children regulary have opportunties to read aloud during the day. All children should have a home/school reading book which should be brought to school every day. Please write a comment in the reading record praising how well your child has read and which pages they have read.
PE
PE is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for this half term. Children should come to school in their PE kits on these days. If they are in an after school sports club, the can wear their PE kits on those days.
Homework
Homework will be posted on Class Dojo on a Friday and the children will have a homework book to record it in, to be returned by the following Friday morning. Homework will be spellings and times tables. Children all have access to the Century learning platform, with their own user name and password.
