Welcome to 5SD! We are looking forward to sharing all of the fun things that we get up to this year! We have had a fantastic start to the Summer term! We have continued to build on our progress so far this year in swimming, resulting in some of us moving up groups. We have been currently working through measurement in Maths and inparticular converting between different units of measure. Within science, we have been looking at forces and how they effect our world around us. Our geography topic this term focuses on the European region and how the climate effects the tourism and landscape.
Our school day starts at 8:45, with a calming start of the day activity. The day finishes at 3:15, children can be collected from our classroom, or those who have signed permission to walk home alone, may do so.
Reading
All children should have a reading record, reading book and reading for pleasure book that they bring to and from school each day. We encourage the children to read independently, with an adult and in groups. Please write a comment in the reading record noting how many pages you have read with your child and a positive comment about their reading.
PE Days
Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday. This half term, we will be continuing to develop our swimming skills. The children should come into school in their school PE kits on these days. PE kit is a white top, blue shorts/joggers and trainers. If the incorrect PE kit is worn, children will be issues with PE kit from lost propety and a note will be sent home regarding this.
Homework
Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned to school on or before the following Friday. Homework can either be handed in as a physical copy or uploaded to DOJO. The children have access to Spelling Shed login details so they can practice these at home.
