Blueberry Park Primary School

Love Learning, Love Life!

EAL (English as an Additional Language)

At Blueberry Park, the teaching and learning, achievements, attitudes and well-being of all our children are important. We encourage each child to achieve the highest possible standards. We do this through taking account of each individual’s life experiences and needs. There will be times when some of our children have particular learning and assessment requirements, which are linked to their progress in learning English as an additional language.

Children who are learning English as an additional language have skills and knowledge about language similar to monolingual English-speaking children. Their ability to participate in the full curriculum may be in advance of their communicative skills in English.

School of Sanctuary

We are proud to be working towards becoming accredited as a School of Sanctuary. We are committed to ensuring that our students learn and understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and the difficulties asylum seekers and refugees face. Our curriculum ensures that there are opportunities to learn, understand and take actions around the themes of human rights as well as diversity, inclusion, refuge and migration.
